Hello, i have a trs 80 model 3 and 4, i beleive the screen on the model 3 is dead, and the keyboard on the model 4 is abit wierd, useable, but irritating. i was wondering if any one is interested, or knows how much these may be worth. my email is [email protected] I also have a compaq portable 2 and 3, both have problems, but im sure they. The TRS 80 Model is very easy to use. It has 5 built in applications. TEXT for text and word processing TELCOM for communication with other computers SCHEDL to keep track of appointments and schedules ADDRS to maintain addresses and phone numbers BASIC that lets you write your own BASIC computer programs.

While it was fun firing up my Dad's TRS Model and writing a bit of code for it, I was left with a choice: leave this as a fun little experiment, or continue hacking away. After weighing the alternatives, I've opted for the latter: let's hack on the Model ! I made this decision for two reasons. A while ago, as we at Ars were discussing our first mobile computing experiences, I recalled the first "laptop" computer I was ever issued to use as a journalist: the Radio Shack TRS Model

In , my parents bought a Radio Shack TRS I’m not sure why. My dad’s a pastor and my mom’s a nurse. There was no professional reason for them to drop today’s equivalent of $2, on a machine that, frankly, didn’t do much. The stock model came with 16k of RAM, though my dad drove three hours to Nashville to upgrade it to 48k.   Got this baby, and has a block of dead pixels, after fix it, make a null modem cable, it's time for fun! Loading some games through the null modem .
